Summary:
This position is part of a knowledgeable engineering staff that specializes in Data networking products
from Extreme, HPE Aruba and other manufacturers. The candidate must have a strong understanding
of routing protocols and be familiar with security protocols as well as: VLANS; VXLAN and SMLT and
be able to work with customers in troubleshooting network designs and working as the technical lead
for internal teams.
Essential Functions:
• Primarily working with Extreme Network Switching, Routing and Wireless; HPE Aruba and
Juniper to a lesser degree
• Provide Tier 4 level technical support and troubleshooting for Extreme network infrastructure
in a Managed Service Provider environment
• Act as the highest escalation point for complex network issues, working closely with Tier 3
engineers and other cross-functional teams to resolve critical incidents
• Conduct in-depth root cause analysis of network problems, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools
and techniques
• Collaborate with network architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to design and
implement solutions that meet client requirements and industry best practices
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, standard
operating procedures, and knowledge base articles
• Assist in the evaluation and deployment of new Extreme network technologies, ensuring
seamless integration into the MSP environment
• Continuously monitor network performance, proactively identifying potential issues and
implementing necessary optimizations and enhancements
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, sharing knowledge and fostering their
professional development
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Extreme network technologies, industry trends, and best
practices
Required Qualifications
• 12+ years of experience in a technical support role
• 8+ years of experience in Extreme Networks products.
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Must possess Extreme Networks Certified Specialist Certification
• Heavy experience with Extreme routers and switches (VOSS Required, ERS/EXOS/VSP)
• Strong experience with SPB (Fabric)
• Strong Experience with Extreme XIQ-SE, ExtremeCloudIQ, and Extreme Control
• Strong knowledge of Layer 2, Layer 3 routing protocols VRRP, VXLAN, BGP, OSPF, etc
• Strong knowledge of security protocols and best practices
• RF Experience in Wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n
• Data Center routing and switching experience preferred
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong account management and customer communication skills
• Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
• Extreme commitment to customer service and enhancing the customer experience
• Excellent computing skills
• Current ECS certification is required
• Ability to learn and effectively utilize customer support tools/resources
• Demonstrate high standards of conduct and ethics as well as appropriate judgement,
independence, and discretion
